How To Enjoy Fall In Los Angeles

July 15, 2022

Los Angeles is a lot of things but Vermont, it is not. Summer and spring are more our speed and we do them both very well.

Spring hikes? So many options!

Summer beach days? You can practically go all year long!

Chilly nights and leaf peeping? Not so much.

Idyllic New England falls really are all the rage this time of year and we’ll admit, we feel a little FOMO when we see pictures from our friends out east. But no matter! There’s plenty we can do right here in Los Angeles to capture the warm, fuzzy feelings of autumn.

Decorate Your Apartment for Fall

So maybe it doesn’t look or feel like “fall” outside, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make it so, inside! Deck out your apartment in all things red, orange, yellow, and gold. String up an autumn leaf garland. Put fake bats up on your walls.

Pick up all the autumnal tea towels and pumpkin patch pillows that your heart desires. Life’s too short & you deserve it.

Carve Jack-O-Lanterns

It’s true, we are more likely to pick up our pumpkins at a grocery store or parking lot than a pumpkin patch, but that doesn’t make them any less, well…pumpkiny!

Nothing says fall quite like gutting a pumpkin and carving a face into it with a sharp blade. (Too graphic?) Whether you go with a traditional Halloween face…

… get really intricate with a stencil,

or get extremely terrifying…

…carving a pumpkin will get you into the fall spirit. You can even paint your pumpkin. Whatever floats your boat!

Bake Fall Treats

Get your butt into the kitchen and fill your apartment with the aromas of apple, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Or, if you’re lazy just light a fall-scented candle. We won’t tell.

Here are a few of our favorite fall treats for you to bake:

  1. Caramel Apple Pie
  2. Pumpkin Spice Cupcakes
  3. Apple Fritters
  4. Carrot Cake
  5. Sweet Potato Cookies

And one for you gluten-free Angelenos (which is probably most of you, let’s be honest):

And another for the vegans….#LosAngeles
