Carved

Where: Descanso Gardens

What: Carved is a family-friendly event for all ages. For three weeks in October, hundreds of carved pumpkins will line the Camellia Forest. This year’s event will be bigger and better than before, with all kinds of new activities.

Along with the pumpkins, the ever-popular pumpkin house, hay maze, and holiday-themed food and beverages will return. Guests can also enjoy UV “black light” experiences, artists sculpting pumpkins, and a special Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) installation at the Amphitheater.

Carved tickets are $20–$26 for Descanso Gardens members and $32–$38 for non-members.

The Hayride leads to a thrilling adventure of horrors afflicting the town. Dazed within the spell cast upon them, the Witch commands her army of crops and flesh to seek revenge on the people that have cast her out. The Spirit of Halloween comes to life surrounding helpless victims brave enough to board The Hayride.

A general admission ticket is $39.99 and gets you access to all the attractions including the hayride, the Midnight Mortuary, The Monty Revolte Show, and more!

A hayride-only ticket is $29.99.

Where: Ace Hotel

What: They’re back for the hugely popular annual Halloween mash-up of film and opera at the Theatre at Ace Hotel. This time they’ve got the Boris Karloff shocker on the big screen, complete with a mad scientist, bumbling henchman, and mob of torch-bearing villagers.

This 1931 masterpiece of horror was originally released without a musical score, which inspired composer Michael Shapiro to fill in the void by creating an original new soundtrack.
