The Best Places to See Flowers In Southern California

April 13, 2023

Spring is almost here, and soon bees will be buzzing, and flowers will be blooming. You can see some beautiful wildflowers that come to life as spring arrives in Southern California. Gorgeous views and vistas are just a short trip outside of Los Angeles. Check out these spots for a fun hike or day trip. It’s the perfect time to spend some time outside!

Palos Verdes Pennisula

Because of its coastal location, flowers bloom year-round at Palos Verdes, but they show off the most during the spring. Check out one of their many nature reserves to see a number of native blooms.

If the wildflowers aren’t enough, you can also visit Conservancy’s Native Plant Nursery to see the Palos Verdes blue butterfly, which you can only find on the Palos Verdes Pennisula.

Antelope Valley California Poppy Reserve

If you get the feeling that you’re not in Kansas anymore, it’s because you’re not. You are at the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve in Southern California. The peak season for poppies is late March to Mid-April. If it’s a good year, you’ll be able to see orange poppies covering the hillsides of Antelope Valley.

Want to check the status of the poppies in real-time or watch something that will lull you to a peaceful sleep? You can watch a live stream of the poppies at any time.

Chino Hills State Park

If you’ve ever felt the urge to frolic around The Shire from Lord of The Rings but can’t afford the airfare to New Zealand a.k.a Middle Earth, Chino Hills is your next best bet. Smaller patches of poppies will line some of the dirt trails over rolling green hills, with yellow flowers lining ridges, and snow-capped mountains visible in the distance. Pretty picturesque!
