Griffith Observatory

There’s nothing quite like seeing Los Angeles lit up at night and no better place to see it than Griffith Observatory in Griffith Park. We recommend a sunset hike to the observatory. The telescopes are free to use. While you are there you should also check out the exhibits like the Hall of the Sky, Cosmic Connection, and the Wilder Hall of the Eye that explore how we view space. Also worth a visit is the Samuel Oschin Planetarium with it’s Zeiss star projector, digital projection system, state-of-the-art aluminum dome, comfy seats, sound system, and theatrical lighting. It has live shows with a knowledgeable presenter every 60-90 minutes. Griffith Observatory is your gateway to the stars!

Davey Waynes

To get to Davey Waynes you’ll walk down El Centro Avenue right off of Hollywood Boulevard and look for the place that appears to be a garage sale. To enter the building you’ll walk through the refrigerator. Yes, you read that correctly. Once you’ve walked through the fridge, you will be transported back to the 1970’s, not literally, but it will certainly feel like it. Besides the rad decor, airstream, and backyard bbq vibes, Good Time at Davey Waynes are also known for their killer cocktails and boozy snow-cones.

Hollywood Farmers Market

You have got to love a local farmers market and Hollywood has a great one to offer. It is located between the iconic Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard. It was one of the first farmers markets to open in California when it got its start in 1991. Now the market is host to 160 farmers, producers and food artisans who specialize in every crop that’s grown seasonally around the state and a large variety of diverse culinary perspectives and practices from all around the world. The market is open Sundays from 8am – 1pm, rain or shine!

There is so much that Hollywood has to offer. From the places where it’s worth battling the crowds of tourists to the quiet, intimate favorites of the locals, there is so much to do.
